Location: Porirua, Wellington

Salary: $50,000 – $55,000


You will lead the team who manage our sportsfields and courts for the community, managing plans, schedules and changes of season renovations.Working for Porirua City is an opportunity for you to make a real difference in the community. This exciting role will embrace your turf management expertise with your passion for leadership. You will lead the team who manage our sportsfields and courts for the community.

We have a range of sports turf surfaces and courts which includes Porirua Park. This venue provides a training ground for international teams and holds many large events and fixtures.

You will be a hands-on team leader responsible for:

• team leadership
• sports turf management
• managing plans, schedules and change of season renovations
• financial management.

It would be fabulous if you have experience working with a wide range of sportsfields, courts, winter and summer codes and relationship management with sporting clubs and groups. You’ll have good up to date knowledge in all aspects of turf management practises while providing customer service excellence.

You’ll need to show us that you:

• have a minimum level 4 sports turf qualification
• have previous experience being an effective leader
• demonstrated technical experience in sports turf preparation, maintenance and management
• have effective communications skills – both written and spoken
• have excellent organisational skills along with the ability to establish priorities
• have a clean Class 2 driver’s licence
• growsafe with Approved Handler or Registered Chemical Applicator.

As this is a safety sensitive role, pre-employment and random drug / alcohol testing may be required
