New Methods & Technologies

NZSTI is always looking to develop, adopt and introduce new methods and technologies or improve those currently used by the turf industry. This not only helps improve our level of service to our clients but ensures our playing surfaces continue to be some of the best in the world. Past achievements include the development and introduction of the sand carpet contamination test, which can be used to determine when a sand carpet playing surface is in need of a major renovation or complete replacement. NZSTI also played a key role in the development of performance standards for artificial bowling green surfaces. More recently NZSTI has developed a set of methods for benchmarking the performance of sports fields for the 2011 Rugby World Cup and golf courses for the R&A.

NZSTI will soon take delivery of the Greentester for testing the holing out consistency of golf greens and green speed. The Greentester will be trialled early in 2013 and is likely to be included as part of our service offering to the golf sector. NZSTI is also about to receive a Toro Precision Sense unit that will be trialled at a range of sports venues around New Zealand, including sports parks, golf courses and horse race tracks.
