Construction & Development
High quality sand carpet playing fields were established by NZSTI at Crossfield Reserve Fields No 3, 4 and 5 for Auckland Council Central. All materials delivered to site were tested in NZSTI’s Laboratory and approved against Technical Specification.
This project was completed on time and on budget: Site investigation identified a drainage solution that combined some new drainage with the existing drainage system to produce the targeted level of drainage performance. This provided a quality outcome at lower than normal cost. Also fencing costs were able to be avoided and consent costs minimised (the construction procedures and timing meant that no more than a building consent for stormwater connections was required).
Consultation with Iwi before project commencement enabled determination of procedures concerning possible archaeological finds during excavation on a culturally significant site. Correct analysis of the turf species water use requirements during Watercare consenting process enabled minimisation of infrastructure growth charges to Council resulting in a significant cost saving. The works undertaken and their timing allowed the fields to remain open for public access and normal scheduled use throughout the duration of the project.
