Cambridge Golf Course
Project: Cambridge Golf Course
Client: Cambridge Golf Club
The Cambridge Golf Club’s golf course is situated on a spectacular land form – ancient river cut terraces and valleys immediately adjacent to the Waikato River. However like many New Zealand golf courses, the natural landscape has been diminished rather than enhanced by the tree planting that had been carried out on the golf course.
The club recognised a need for a clear vision for how the golf course landscape would be developed to avoid inappropriate tree planting. NZSTI was asked to prepare this document for the club. Following site visits, discussion with club representatives and research concerning local plant types and communites, a detailed landscape vision document was produced.
This defined how the golf course would look and play, tree types to remove, trees to retain and planting to carry out plus minor changes to enhance the layout.
