Construction & Development
The Bush Multi Sports complex is the main sporting complex in the Pahiatua area. The complex’s sportsfields are constructed from a poorly drained silty clay loam soil. A drainage system already existed in the senior rugby fields but the junior soccer field and training areas were un-drained and this resulted in limited winter use.
Tararua District Council contacted NZSTI to seek advice about improving the drainage and winter performance of the un-drained areas. NZSTI had designed the existing drainage so the council trusted NZSTI to make a cost effective recommendation.
Lateral drains were installed on time and budget to be complemented by mole ploughing to improve the winter drainage and performance. The council and user groups have been happy with outcome.
