Golf Course Design

NZSTI provides a comprehensive range of golf course design services including:
  • Site assessments, feasibility studies and full design (e.g. for new golf courses or for additions to existing golf courses).
  • Analysis of existing golf course layouts.
  • “Master Plans” for further development of existing golf courses.
  • Detailed plans for specific projects (e.g. new holes, greens, tees, etc).
  • Project management and on site supervision of work in progress.
  • Golf course tree planting plans (selective removal and additional planting as appropriate, staged replacement of aged tree plantings).
  • A particular strength of NZSTI’s golf course design service is the combination of golf course design expertise, in-depth agronomic knowledge and preparedness to understand the constraints (climate, budget, soil type, etc) that exist on each site. This combination produces an end product that is both well designed and sustainable.

A specialty of the NZSTI design service is development planning for established golf courses. Our fundamental approach to improvement of existing golf courses is to:

  • Preserve and integrate natural site features into the golf course design.
  • Improve the existing layout rather than “re-build” the golf course.
  • Recognise, respect and enhance the unique features and characteristics of each individual golf course.
  • Create uniquely “New Zealand” golf courses (i.e. something that won’t be seen anywhere else in the world).
  • Create a golf course that will be “maintainable” given realistic maintenance resources.
